confessions of an unapologetic makeup junkie

taken via my mac's photobooth using the balmbini palette.

my camera's in camera heaven already so i'm making do with my isight camera.
i was bored and procrastinating. (i'm supposed to be editing the Study Notes for the 2011 bar exams)

Face:
concealer: San-San concealer in olive (under-eye and blemishes)
under-eye highlight: the cream base from the Golden Ratio Face Glam highlighter from Etude House (Golden)
powder: Fanny Serrano two-way cake
duchess - as an over-all powder/used to set the concealer
rajah - as a light contour using the 3-E method

Cheeks:
blush - Downboy and Hot Mama, both from the balmbini palette



Eyes
i have lash extensions so i didnt put mascara/eyeliner in the upper lash line
Brows: ModelCo brow kit in Dark
base: the cream base from the Golden Ratio Face Glam highlighter
Shadow - the two Shady Lady shadows from the Balmbini palette
highlight (browbone and inner corner) - Mary-Lou Manizer from the Balmbini palette
Lower-lash liner - Nichido Eye Pencil in Green Smokes

Lips:
lipbalm: Bayo Lipbalm in green (colorlesss when applied, i got this as a freebie from the Bayo fashion show years ago)
Lipconcealer by Etude House
Lipstick: Coco Copper lipstick from Fanny Serrano
Lipgloss: Herbench Paintbox in Pink Tint

Brushes used:
all from the James Cooper travel brush set
the Kabuki SE brush from MAC. the numbers peeled off already. i used the kabuki to blend the concealer.

i know i'm a far cry from her, but i just find her beautiful! she's the cover of Metro's September issue and i was just drawn to the simplicity of the make up. mine's not perfect at all, but i'm just starting out and the no-make up look for formal events is not my forte at all. i prefer those loud looks cuz it's just a helluva lot easier to do.

i have careline loose shadows in several colors but i decided to make a review on vanilla white

le price:
they're no mac pigments, but for 80 bucks (pesos) a pop, they aint so bad.

le experience:
they're very pigmented too! i have several individual ones and i have duos, and i love them! i just use a good base so that it sticks. being loose and all, it tends to fall out fast, but with a sticky base (i use my white gel liner most of the time) it works fantastic!
this review however is for the individual ones, more specifically, it's for the vanilla white variant.

it has so many uses. most of the time, i use it as a highlighter for the brow bone, the cheekbone and sometimes even the cupid's bow (upper lip area).

most of the time, i mix it with a liquid foundation or even a tinted moisturizer and i'm good to go. i did this mostly last summer, when it's too hot to put on makeup and i just want to put a little coverage and to even out my skin tone. it gives me that subtle glow, and it gives me a kind-of MAC strobe cream look, minus the pinkish tinge, which is okay for me. it doesnt come off as too shiny, oily look, but it just gives my face a certain pop.

i also mix it with careline's mestiza white loose shadow and petroleum jelly and it's my instant lip balm which i use on bare lips and i'm good to go. sometimes i put it on top of a lipstick and it doubles as a great lipgloss. useful, innit? (pics to follow, i left my pre-made one in manila)

you have to watch out for the crappy packaging tho. the bottom part unsticks like 9 out of 10 times and it leaves a serious mess in my trunk, which i hate. i saw the salesladies at watson's festival use a trusty scotch tape to keep it in place, but i dont use scotch tapes, so i used my invisible tape (sticks better, in my opinion)


le verdict:
i find it too oppressive that mac pigments are always, always out of stock here, so i make do with the next alternative.
i give this product 3.5 lipsticks.
i took points off because of its crappy packaging and limited color options.

oh and i bought sunnies! yay me! i know, i look like a bug, but i love love it.

this is the start of many (i hope) dates with the same cutie. ive just met a cute boy and we'd be having le highly anticipated first date in approximately 14 hours. i know. must get le beauty sleep soon! :D and i must stop talking about him. he's more established in the blog scene and all that. :D

i did some practice makeup for it and this is my tentative FOLD (face of le date!) :D it is very muted, as i wanna keep it simple and clean on the first date. i wanna make him think i don't need makeup to be beautiful (although i used a TON of products). my aunt would always say it is harder to achieve simplicity than flambouyance and i have to agree with her! this look was hella hard to do. it's name "no make up look" is quite deceiving.
i did the flick tho.. what do you think? should i ditch the flick in my lash line?
oh, and i did an uber defined MLBB cuz guys hate made up lips.. i feel tho that my lips are uber made up. what do you think?

should i tone down the nude? HELP!!

note: still using isight with very bad lighting!
